OTC Fertility Drugs for Women

OTC Fertility Drugs for Women

OTC stands for “over the counter,” and in regards to medicine, OTC means a drug or medication that is sold directly to the consumer without a doctor’s prescription. Although, sometimes, these drugs can be found on the same shelf with other packaged goods. Claim Your 20 Free Pregnancy Tests – Click Here

A wide range of medicine is available to consumers over the counter, but the OTC fertility drugs for women are not always readily available in your local drug store like CVS or Rite Aid. However, almost all of them can be purchased online. Below, you can find a list of the seven most common fertility medications for women that have difficulties conceiving.

Clomid

Actually named Clomiphene, Clomid is the brand name version of the same. It is also marketed as Serophene or Milophene, and acts to stimulate the ovaries to produce multiple eggs. For those with no ovulation or scant ovulation, this can be extremely successful, in fact, many already shared their positive Clomid experiences online.

While a prescribed medication, there are various sources online in which you can purchase this product over-the-counter. However, as with the case of all prescribed medications, it is best to go through your doctor to ensure a product most effective and safe.

Fertomid

Fertomid is another prescription product, that is based on Clomiphene and available as pills and tablets. It is used to treat infertility in women who are not ovulating mainly due to hormonal imbalances. Like Clomiphene, while a prescription product, it can be found online for purchase over-the-counter. Again, buy at your own caution as these are meant to be prescribed by a doctor, so he can best monitor you and provide you with the safest medication available.

Vitex

Vitex is usually recommended as the first drug to be tried, as an herbal supplement made from the extract of the chasteberry plant, it is a far cheaper alternative than other similar drugs, since it uses only natural ingredients. Vitex balances hormones necessary for a smooth-operating reproductive system, and can be found in your local health food store.

FertiBella ConceiveEasy

The women’s formula has multiple ingredients, including Vitex and L-arginine – which helps keep the uterine lining healthy, folic acid (folate – which aids in fertility health), and many other vitamins and minerals. As a fertility blend, it combines a mix of vitamins, minerals and herbs, to best support a woman’s reproductive system during the time of conception.

Cheaper than prescribed medications, FertiBella ConceiveEasy costs about $40 per month. However, with every bottle purchase, you receive free pregnancy or ovulation tests, which is a great cost-savings for those of you trying to conceive.

Ovulex

Ovulex also includes Vitex, gingko biloba and many other natural ingredients. As another fertility blend, it works by stimulating the reproductive hormones such as estrogens and progesterone, but it is much more expensive than the other supplements at about $70 per month.

Femara

Although used mostly to treat breast cancer after surgery and known as Letrozole, it is an oral treatment free of steroids, which, by stimulating the ovaries to mature the egg faster, it also produces the necessary hormones for an easier and faster pregnancy. Again, like Clomiphene and Fertomid, it is a prescribed medication but generic versions of it can be found online without a prescription.

Chinese Fertility Herbs

Chinese fertility herbs are said to be very effective as a treatment for more than one fertility problem, as they fight issues such as the lack of or irregular ovulation, egg quality, irregular cycles, etc. Common Chinese herbs include Shu di huang, Fu pen Zi, Man jing Zi, Shan yao, Dang gui, and Yi mu cao.

Despite their wide availability, it is important to remember that, although the risks associated with them are significantly lower than those characteristic to the various prescription drugs, some over the counter fertility drugs can occasionally have unpleasant side effects, the most common being mild headaches, irregular menstruation cycles, breakouts and abnormal spotting.
